What I liked about it: Staff were very accommodating. Had an issue with a mysterious noise whining in the room and the night clerk moved us to an adjacent room in no time. The rooms were clean and trendy. The breakfast bar featured both continental and hot breakfast items with fresh ground coffee which was great. The beds were comfortable and the pillows nice. Although there were no carpets the floors did not feel cold. What I was not so keen on: To save expenses (I believe) they used soap pumps in the room vs little soap bars. Two things wrong with this. Firstly people generally don't like to touch what others have touched after doing god knows what and secondly it was highly perfumed. If I were male or scent sensitive this is the LAST thing I would want to put on my face. They did provide soap and shampoo pumps in the shower which you had to pump like a mad woman to get sufficient soap on them. The room while trendy feeling also felt very cold and stark, not very cozy, no carpeting and no pictures or art on the walls to make it feel warmer, however I am sure with no carpet it would much more sanitary so it's kind of + -. While I respect the difficulty in cleaning white towels, leaving a somewhat heavy handed note in the bathroom telling you not to wash any make up or foundation residue on them or you would be billed made me a bit uncomfortable about using them. I am glad I don't wear much make up.What would have lifted my rating to 4 or 5 stars would be if they provided scent neutral guest soaps, put some art work on the walls and removed the towel-billing note. I understand the reasoning but did not feel welcomed for it.
We chose to stay at this hotel as it looked new and the idea of the laminate floor appealed to me. We arrived at the hotel at midnight to check in for the night. The staff member was welcoming and friendly, but what was off putting was that once I paid for the nightly rate(which was very reasonable), I was still required to make a deposit of $200. I was disturbed by this as in my previous experience most hotels just take down your credit card number, and bill it if additional expenses occur. The room was clean and neat, I really liked the laminate flooring from a hygiene perspective, and did not find them cold. I did not like the sign posted on the wall in the bathroom telling me to take care not to get any makeup on the towels or I would be billed. I find this unwelcoming, and was hesitant to use any of the towels in the bathroom. I also did not like the soap dispenser idea, it was not the most sanitary. We found the room not very sound proofed, we heard the train going by multiple times in the night. The ac unit was also very loud when it kicked in, so did not result in a great nights sleep. The beds very very firm, and we tend to like a softer bed.
Elegant place, decent price. Expected restaurant & bar to be open. Of course not. Very disappointed. Shuttle to airport drives like a mad man blowing stop signs & takin' corners hard enough to have to hold on. Thought I was in Mario Cart.
Front desk lady at check in was not friendly. Effective service but not at all friendly. Room was modern, but not as clean as it should be. Under the beds were filthy. Pool was also filthy, lots of dirt sunk to the bottom of the pool and not cleaned. Location is great! Super close to YEG and shopping. To bad the hotel is not as clean as one would hope.
Great place to stay. I would stay here for a night or even a week. They have a great hot tub and pool area. The room was very modern and new. I had a jacuzzi suite which was well worth it. It's a nice and close location to the airport. So people coming from out of town for a flight would benefit from staying here.
